News Update-January 14, 2012

1182 children heard the Good News of Salvation this past Christmas and 59 made a profession of faith in Christ! In addition to this, 19 adults accepted the Lord, of almost 100 who attended the Christmas Bible Clubs!

I want to thank God for the opportunity again to have this precious ministry with kids in different places in our city and around it. Of course, this wasn´t possible without the help of many people and churches involved. I want to thank my home church, because year after year they are in disposition to help us in preparing different places for Bible Clubs, including little mission churches and inviting kids to come to the Bible Clubs. We had the privilege to preach the gospel in 16 different places without any incident. I would also like to thank to Jeff, Pansy, Justine and Judd Waller who took time to come to Juarez and help us, assisting with transport and some teaching like prayer and conducting some songs in Spanish.

Every year when the gifts arrive to El Paso, TX, I make a question to myself, How are we going to carry all these 1200 jumbo size ziplock gifts to Juarez? Every year there appears new obstacles to making this possible. This year was no exception! I have learned that when we have obstacles in front of us, our God open other doors.

When Jeff Waller and Brother Fred Preston arrived with a pick up and a big trailer full of boxes with gifts, I thought, “Oh, Lord we really need your help again because the customs officers are more stringent each day!” That night, as Grace Chapel Church in El Paso celebrated their prayer service, we shared this need with them. Sitting at the table with the group, was Brother Mike Breitinger who said, “It is possible that I can help. I know some people in the Mexican Consulate, here in El Paso, and I can talk with them. Maybe they can do something to help us.” We prayed that night and the next few days about this need. Finally, I received a call from Brother Mike, who told me that we need to call a lady in the Mexican Consulate and explain the plan and what we want. Betty and I made the visit and the person was a consul of Mexico in the US. She offered all the help we needed to carry a lot of the gifts to Mexico. They made the transportation in the consulate official vehicles and carried the boxes to the door of our local church in Juárez! CAN YOU PRAISE GOD WITH ME? YES! This miracle wasn´t possible without your prayers in our favor. We appreciate this so much. Every day I learn many new things from our God and also can see His hand of blessing for the children and ministry in Mexico.

More kids are arriving to the missions for church and Bible Clubs. The houses are not enough to have all these people. Three of these places are having a big attendance. In one, more than 50 kids are coming every week! In the second, more than 60 are attending. In the third, 35 are coming. In the fourth 24…and in the fifth almost 75! We need to teach the classes outdoors because of the size. This is difficult, because the weather is very cold this time of year. We need to teach the classes at 3:00 or 4:00 pm to make use of the warmest part of the day. In one of the classes, there are arriving a good group of youth and adults. I will start a Bible Class for adults next week. Please pray for me.

Raquel is preparing for her graduation ceremony. Abraham will return to high school on Jan. 23d. Betty and I are well and continue with the ministry with the church and missions.

Thank again for your prayers and financial support. We appreciate both with all our heart.

Your Missionaries,

Alfredo & Betty Tabares and Family

A note from Jeff Waller:

Alfredo and his family are faithfully serving the Lord in the most violent city in the world. I have known Alfredo for many years. He is a man of God and is worthy of your support. There is a great need for the gospel and for mission churches in Juarez. People are seeking the Lord because of the violence. Alfredo will not tell you this, but he is in need of additional financial support. He also needs help in expanding the mission church buildings in Juarez. As he mentioned, many of these churches and Bible Clubs are meeting outside, during the winter. The cost to expand each mission building is only about $5000.00 each…Less if you come and provide the labor. I have been to these locations. They are all being used to lead children and adults to Christ and to train them to serve Him. Prayerfully consider helping Alfredo reach the people of Juarez for Christ.
